Simple Weekend Getaway: Huntington Museum

Given a choice, I'd like to live in the mountains or by the beach. Solitude suits me. I could do that now but that would mean almost two hours of driving everyday to and fro work. Gas expense and time wasted on the road isn't something I can afford right now. That dream will have to wait.

My love for silence and nature has motivated me to look for spots near the city that will give me those things without have to drive too far. The Huntington Museum is one of those spots. It's about 30 minutes of driving from where I live but is completely shrouded in nature.

Things you can do:
1) Art immersion
2) Botanical Garden
3) Picnic
4) Party
5) Walk

I usually take a good 30 minute walk before I settle into a spot where I do some writing or sketching. When I need to take a break, I visit one of the museums or the botanical gardens. I try to write or read in different spots. It's amazing how my view affects my writing.

Places like the Huntington Museum is one of the things I am thankful for. It offers some peace in the midst of chaos. It's an escape, a good escape and I can't even begin to tell you how many good art have come from good escapes.
